Brewing Instructions

While the grind size is determined by the type of coffee maker used, the brewing instructions generally remain the same. For each cup of cold, fresh water (as measured using the coffee pot) add one tablespoon of ground coffee to the filter. One cup of water, one scoop of ground coffee.

Yes, but we recommend regular, non-flavoured coffees for use in espresso machines; brewing flavoured coffees may result in flavour transfer. Darker roast coffee beans tend to be more oily; we recommend using light or medium roasted coffee for espresso.

Coffee Ingredients

All Zavida coffee contains 100% Arabica coffee. For our flavoured coffee line, we use a blend of natural and artificial flavourings that do not contain any allergens or calories. Our Organic line of coffees all contain 100% Rainforest Alliance Certified™ and USDA/Canadian Organic Certified Coffee Beans.

Yes, different coffees have different caffeine contents. As coffee is an agricultural product, certain components will change from year to year depending on the weather and other factors. There are two distinct varieties of coffee: Arabica and Robusta. Zavida uses only high-quality Arabica coffee beans which have a lower caffeine content than Robusta. From a roasting perspective, darker roasts will tend to have lower caffeine content, but we have found the difference to be minimal. On the brewing side, water temperature and grind size (fine vs coarse) can affect how much caffeine will be extracted. Finer grinds and higher temperatures will yield higher levels of caffeine. Zavida Coffee, brewed at 56 grams (2 oz) per pot, will yield on average 79 mg of caffeine per 8 oz cup.

All Zavida coffee is gluten-free. Additionally, all our 100% Arabica coffees, as well as all flavouring used in our flavoured coffees, contain no genetically modified ingredients (GMOs) and will soon be officially non-GMO certified.

There are no allergens - including any nut products - in any of our regular or flavoured coffees.

Yes! Our facility is certified Kosher by the Kashruth Council of Canada. All our fresh roasted coffees are certified Kosher and feature the COR 444 symbol.


If storing coffee for less than 1 week, use an airtight container and store in a cool dark place. If storing coffee for more than 1 week, use an airtight container or bag and place in the freezer. We don't recommend refreezing coffee.

Zavida does not offer any instant coffee products. Zavida freshly roasts only 100% Arabica coffee and packages it immediately to maintain freshness.

When adding a product to cart, please select our "All-Purpose Grind", which has been verified by our Research and Development team to be best suited for the My K-Cup, Solofill and Ekobrew reusable K-Cups. If grinding your own whole beans, Zavida recommends using an "All-purpose / Drip grind" for both the Keurig My K-Cup and Solofill reusable cups, which is similar to table salt inconsistency. Organic coffee enhances biodiversity and is grown without the use of non-organic synthetic pesticides, herbicides, or chemical fertilizers. It is produced by farmers who emphasize the use of renewable resources, organically grown coffee conserves earth and water and is part of an ecological production management system which treats all inputs as small parts of a whole.   

Yes! All our single serve coffee cups are recyclable in select locations. Check with your local recycling facility for eligibility and updated information. Simply follow these steps to recycle our cups:
Peel: allow the cup to cool completely before peeling off the lid.
Empty: dispose of the coffee grounds in the compost. Filter can remain.
Recycle: toss the empty cup in your recycling bin.

Depending on the type of packaging, all coffee products have a different shelf life. The first thing to note is that coffee does not "expire" as it is generally recognized as a safe product to consume many years after it is roasted. However, coffee does have a very important "Best Before" date to ensure maximum flavour and aroma are released. Our 2 lb., 12 oz, and single-serve coffee cups have a "Best Before" date on the bottom of the package. Always remember that oxygen, light, and heat degrade shelf life; therefore, all coffee should be stored in airtight containers away from heat and sunlight.

Coffee Subscription Program

All our coffees (excluding limited-edition flavours) are available for a subscription. When you choose the subscription feature, add the products that you want to your cart, and then choose the frequency. This will create a subscription order, sent to you on the date you select. Remember, when your subscription order total is $40 and above in both Canada and the US, you qualify for free shipping! Don’t forget to check that you chose the correct grind type – either whole bean or all-purpose grind.

You can choose between one, two, three or four month deliveries when setting up your subscription. Your first subscription order will ship immediately after it is placed, and that day of the month will become the default date that all future orders ship. If you want to customize your shipment date, log into your Zavida account, select "My Subscriptions" and then pick the date that suits you best.

You can pause your subscription at any time, as long as the upcoming order hasn’t been processed yet. Don’t forget to log back in and restart your subscription when you’re ready to receive it again!

Payment & Coupons

We accept all major credit cards, and will accept payment through ShopPay, Google Pay, and PayPal.

If you receive an error message related to credit card authorization failure, please clear your cache and double-check that we accept your credit card directly or if it will need to be done through PayPal, check the billing address on the credit card and matches your account billing address, try re-entering your CVN or security code, and be sure that the card is current and valid. After validating the information you've entered and an error message is received a third attempt, email or contact your financial institution for further assistance.

Due to security purposes, we do not allow coupon stacking, you can only redeem one coupon in a given transaction.

No. The price on the product page does not dynamically adjust based on the currently selected quantity. However, the subtotal presented on the cart page does reflect the discounted sum.

Shipping & Orders

If the status of your order still says "Awaiting Fulfillment" then we may be able to cancel or modify. We encourage you to email us immediately, stating your order number. Customer care is available Mon-Fri 7:30 am - 4 pm (ET). Once your order appears as "Awaiting Shipment," it has entered the shipping process and no further changes can be made.

To find the status of a particular order and view your order history it can be found within My Account under Order History.

We only ship directly within the US via UPS and Canada via Canada Post to a physical street address. We do not ship to RR or PO Boxes, nor do we ship to Hawaii, Alaska, and Puerto Rico (US), or the Yukon, Northwest Territories and Nunavut (CA). We do not offer international delivery at the moment.

We offer everyday free shipping on orders of $40 or more shipped in Canada, and $40 or more shipped in the US (not available for Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Yukon and Northwest Territories, Nunavut, RR and PO Box addresses; other address restrictions may apply). Free shipping will automatically be applied to any orders that meet the minimum purchase criteria above. If your order is below the minimum requirement, a flat rate of $10 will be applied for delivery in Canada. Zavida is 100% Carbon Neutral Certified through our partner, Trees for the Future. A full analysis has been performed on the carbon emissions emitted by Zavida Coffee Company including all energy, gas, fuel and transport, and other items that contribute to carbon production. After this analysis, Zavida's total annual production of carbon was calculated, and Zavida then committed to planting enough trees to ensure these carbon emissions are completely offset.

Rainforest Alliance Certified™ coffee is grown on farms where forests are protected, rivers, soils and wildlife conserved; workers are paid decent wages, properly equipped and given access to indispensable education and medical care. To learn more, visit

Our coffee bags are recyclable with recycling code #7.  Please consult with your local recycling authority or your respective municipality to confirm what is accepted in your area. Our goal is to one day use a fully biodegradable/recyclable bag that also preserves the freshness of our coffee. We are working closely with various suppliers to find a viable solution while not compromising the integrity of our products. In the meantime, we are focusing our efforts on those areas of our supply chain where we can have the greatest positive environmental impact, such as sourcing green bean coffee from organic and Rainforest Alliance Certified farms. Over 30% of our coffee is now organic and over 70% is Rainforest Alliance Certified. Using 100% recycled and recyclable corrugated carton board for for all our shipping boxes. Planting trees around the world via our partnership with Trees for the Future to offset all our carbon emissions.

The California Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) proposed regulation is based on extensive scientific evidence that drinking coffee has not been shown to increase the risk of cancer and may reduce the risk of some types of cancer.
