A bag of Zavida S'mores Coffee sits beside a White Hot Russian coffee recipe. It's a cocktail and hot chocolate all rolled into one perfect, sweet, sticky, chocolate-y package. If you’re already making S’mores around the fire, you only need a couple of extra ingredients for this fun and appropriately-themed treat!

CAN YOU MAKE A WHITE RUSSIAN WITH REAL COFFEE? YES, YOU CAN!

Our reinvented take on the classic White Russian uses our S’mores Funky Flavour Coffee, and delivers a hot, decadent, chocolate-y treat with every sip. It’s a great boozy alternative to hot chocolate, and packs a punch too! While a traditional White Russian includes coffee liqueur, our take goes a little further and features Zavida S’mores coffee for depth of flavour and a little extra caffeine.

WHY IS IT CALLED A WHITE RUSSIAN?

Fun fact: the White Russian cocktail was originally created in Brussels, Belgium - contrary to what you might think, it has absolutely nothing to do with Russia. It’s named after the country as an homage to the vodka in the recipe. If you want to pass off this trivia tidbit as your own when you make S’mores White Russians for your friends, we promise we won’t tell anyone where you heard it first 😉

HOW TO MAKE A S’MORES COFFEE WHITE RUSSIAN

MAKES: one 9 oz serving

INGREDIENTS:

1/2-part vodka (1 oz)
1 part coffee liqueur (2 oz)
2 parts brewed Zavida S’mores Coffee (4 oz)
1-part whole milk or cream (2 oz)

GARNISH:

Marshmallows
Whipped cream
Chocolate syrup
Crushed graham crackers

INSTRUCTIONS:

  • Combine all ingredients in a small pot and warm on low-medium heat. When you start to see steam coming from the mixture, turn off the heat! You’ll want to avoid boiling the vodka and coffee liqueur in your drink.
  • Drizzle chocolate syrup around the inside of your cup. Pour your heated mixture in and garnish with whipped cream, marshmallows and crushed graham crackers.

TIPS:

  • Feeling extra creative? Why not make a real S’more to add to the top of your glass for a truly authentic campfire experience.
  • If you’re looking for a more decadent warm beverage, replace the milk with cream in this recipe.
  • Skim milk is not recommended here, as it has a higher tendency to curdle when heated and won’t give you the same creaminess as whole milk or cream.
  • Alcohol evaporates at 172F, so make sure not to boil your mix. A recipe using a higher percentage of alcohol heated briefly will retain more alcohol than a recipe using a lower percentage of alcohol heated for a long time.
